31. New England Patriots

31. player. 47.
There is often a price to be paid for sticking to the system. At times the New England Patriots are forced to give up good players at certain positions in order to avoid money problems. That is what they did when they traded Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals. With other money concerns on the horizon, a sacrifice was needed and that was it. Unfortunately it creates a void at the edge rusher position that’s not going to disappear overnight. Maybe Trey Flowers steps up, but that’s not a guarantee.

Chris Long is not a long-term solution for them and Rob Ninkovich is now dealing with a mix of injury and suspension problems. The time is right for the Patriots to consider that course of action. One name that is sneaking under the radar is Harold Landry.

Coming from the tough-as-nails program at Boston College, he is showing himself to be an effective defensive end. He’s already a headache to block in the run game. Towards the end of last season it became clear he was learning how to rush the passer. With a mix of power, technique and motor he’s just the kind of guys the Patriots like.
. DE. Boston College. Harold Landry
