Last championship: Never

Last winning season: 2014

Image it’s Christmas Day, and everyone else in your house gets not just one, but multiple gifts underneath the tree. However, when you go to look for yours, there’s nothing there. One of your siblings gets five gifts, while another gets four and the last one gets three. Meanwhile, Santa — or fate — has somehow deemed you fit to punish and exclude.

Now imagine you’re the Philadelphia Eagles, and your siblings are the Dallas Cowboys, New York Ginats, and Washington Redskins. Now you understand the feeling Philly’s lack of championships — particularly when compared to their three most hated rivals — brings to their fanbase.

Eagles fans are a dedicated bunch. Even after all the years of futility and near misses, it’s still one of the hardest tickets to land in all of the NFL. And for the most part, the Eagles do a regular job of rewarding their following, having captured seven division titles since 2000 (more than any other team in the NFC East). However, during that same stretch they have managed to make the Super Bowl just once, and have instead suffered through a string of postseason upsets.

The Eagles winning a Super Bowl would likely inspire a celebration the state of Pennsylvania would never quite reover from. More crucially, it would finally allow them to stop being such easy target practice for rival fanbases in football’s nastiest rooting division.
