2. Adrian Peterson

A year ago, the Minnesota Vikings offensive unit totaled a mere 32 touchdowns – 18 on the ground and just 14 through the air. And just over one-third of those scores (11) came from 2015 NFL rushing champion Adrian Peterson.

And those focusing on the fact that the seven-time Pro Bowler is now 31 years old are completely missing the point. The nine-year performer led the NFL with 327 carries and 1,485 yards on the ground in 2015, while his 11 rushing touchdowns tied for the league lead. Keep in mind that the previous two years combined (2013-14), for numerous reasons, Peterson ran the football a combined 300 times.

Keep this in mind, especially when it comes to the running back position: It’s not about age but more about wear and tear. And when you combine the fact that the former Oklahoma Sooner dishes out as many hits as he takes, it tells you that Peterson still has quite a few years left.

While the Tennessee Titans made some moves to bolster their defense this offseason, the fact remains that this is a very suspect unit when it comes to stopping the run. Yes, the club made significant improvement over the course of one season. A year after allowing the second-most rushing yards in the league, the Titans improved to 18th in the NFL in the same category. The problem is that the number still indicates mediocrity and when dealing with the likes of Peterson, you better be pretty buttoned up. Expect 20-plus carries and a 100-plus yards from the relentless runner.
