18. player. 50. Strong safety play was a big reason the Detroit Lions had a top defense in 2014. Unfortunately they’ve taken a step back at that position. James Ihedigbo is gone and Glover Quin is pushing further into his 30s. More questions than answer are emerging at that position right when the Lions need it to be steady. Especially given the array of improved passing attacks around the NFC North. So this makes them a favorite to seek out an upgrade in the draft.

Jamal Adams comes from the factory at LSU, so that might mean he’s getting elevated further than he should. That is not the case. The tape doesn’t lie and it says Adams can play. He’s big enough to take on a tight end in coverage and plays a downhill style with violence and instinct. The speed is there for him to play with range and take the football away. It is still a work-in-progress as far as his ball skills but they’re improving each week.
. S. LSU. Jamal Adams
