11. J.T. Barrett – QB – Ohio State Buckeyes

As a member of the class of 2013, J.T. Barrett was rated as a four-star recruit and the seventh-best dual threat QB — despite the fact that he tore his ACL during his senior year. He committed to Ohio State two months after National Signing Day and agreed to redshirt for his first year.

Barett entered the 2014 season as Braxton Miller’s backup, but took over the starting role when Miller went down with a shoulder injury. Barrett led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record that season while receiving multiple honors, including Big 10 Quarterback of the Year. He also finished fifth in the Heisman race.

The following year, Barrett entered the season as Cardale Jones’ backup. However, that only last for seven games as Barrett worked his way back into the starting role, accounting for 20 TDs over the last seven games of the season and helping Ohio State finish with a 12-1 record.

In his first game of the 2016, Barrett destroyed Bowling Green with 349 passing yards and six TDs, while tacking on an additional rushing TD. The performance broke a school record for most individual TDs in a game.

Ohio State already had one former player grace the Madden cover in Eddie George. Additionally, based on how his pro career goes, Ezekiel Elliott has a strong chance to appear on the cover as well. If Barrett continues to improve and becomes a consistent success in the NFL, he could find his face on the cover also. If everything listed comes to pass, then Ohio State should receive the nickname of “Madden Cover U.”
