5. Dalvin Cook – RB – Florida State Seminoles

As a senior at Miami Central High School, Dalvin Cook won the Mr. Football award for the state of Florida, finishing the season with 1,940 rushing yards and 24 TDs on only 177 carries. He was regarded as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com and was ranked as the second-best all-purpose RB in the class of 2014. Although originally committed to Clemson, Cook changed his mind and committed to Florida, before changing his mind again and settling with FSU as his college of choice.

Although he split carries with Mario Pender and Karlos Williams, Cook still had the freshman season ever for an FSU RB, setting school freshman records with 1,008 rushing yards and eight TDs on the ground. His season led to him being a unanimous selection on the Freshman All-American team.

Dalvin followed up his outstanding first year by surpassing it, finishing the 2015 season by rushing for 1,691 yards and 19 TDs, the former of which broke Warrick Dunn’s record of 1,242 — a mark that stood for two decades. For his achievements, Cook received first and second team All-American selections from numerous publications.

Entering the 2016 season, Cook is considered one of the best RBs in the country. He has the potential to rush for over 2,000 yards this season and is also considered to be a future first-round pick in the NFL Draft. Cook also plays with an extra edge due to his feeling that he gets overlooked too much. If he continues to trend upward in his talent progression, then the NFL will have its next star RB.
