4. Christian McCaffrey – RB – Stanford Cardinal

Some people are born to be exceptional athletes and Christian McCaffrey is clearly one of them. His father is former Denver Broncos receiver Ed McCaffrey and his mother is a former collegiate soccer player for Stanford. Additionally, his grandfather was a former Olympic silver medalist in the 100m dash.

As a true freshman at Stanford in 2014, McCaffrey played in 13 games, registering 300 rushing yards on 42 carries for an average of 7.1 yards per carry while also hauling in 17 passes for 251 yards and two TDs. He showed obvious potential, but didn’t get the ball in his hands enough. This would change in the following season.

2015 was a true breakout year for McCaffrey as he racked up 3,864 all-purpose yards, breaking Barry Sanders’ previous record of 3,250 by a significant margin. McCaffrey rushed for 2,019 yards and eight scores on the ground; reeled in 45 catches for 645 yards and five TDs through the air, and. tallied 1,200 total return yards to go along with two more scores. McCaffrey’s extraordinary season led to being a Heisman Trophy finalist and he finished second in the final voting.

McCaffrey has kicked off the 2016 season with 126 rushing yards and two TDs. He looks locked in to make another run at the Heisman Trophy and numerous post-season awards. He currently projects as a first round selection for the NFL and his dynamic versatility will be welcome on any team. Whether he’s an RB or a WR in the pros, Christian McCaffrey seems almost destined to appear on a Madden cover sooner than later.
