25 NCAA players that could appear on a future Madden NFL cover

22. Mike Williams – WR – Clemson Tigers
Clemson University has produced some outstanding NFL receivers over the last three years. DeAndre Hopkins became a Pro Bowler last season and Sammy Watkins is well on his way to being one as well. Martavis Bryant has Pro Bowl talent, though he needs to handle his off-the-field issues first. His one-year suspension should hopefully help him get his act together. However, we’ve seen what Bryant can do on the field and he’s clearly gifted.
Due to Clemson’s recent proficiency in producing great receiving talent, it should come as no surprise that another one is waiting in the wings. Mike Williams burst onto the scene in 2014 with 57 catches for 1,030 yards and six TDs. He was also a Biletnikoff Award watch list member for contending as one of the country’s top receivers.
Unfortunately, his 2015 campaign was over before it started, as he fractured his neck in the first game and underwent season-ending surgery. Heading into the 2016 season, Williams appeared to be fully recovered and he even proclaimed to be better than before. If his Week 1 performance of nine catches for 174 yards is any indication, Williams’ claim is holding true, and he may end up being the best receiver in the country by season’s end.
There have only been three wideouts featured on the Madden NFL cover: Larry Fitzgerald, Odell Beckham, Jr and the recently retired Calvin Johnson. If he has an outstanding 2016 season and continues to improve as a professional, Williams has a solid chance to be the fourth.
