2017 NFL Draft: James Conner, Josh Dobbs looking good
Josh Dobbs: Stock up
Tennessee entered the season once again as a highly regarded contender to win the SEC behind quarterback Josh Dobbs. All that changed after a nail-bitter overtime win against Appalachian State opening weekend.
Against a less talented App. State team, Dobbs went 16/29 with a touchdown and an interception. Tennessee looked like they walked into that game assuming they’d win. A drastic fall in the AP poll looked to have waken them up.

Josh Dobbs’ draft stock had no where to go but up after grinding out a victory in the season opener. He came back and dominated at the Battle at Bristol against Virginia Tech in front of a record 1556,990 fans in prime time.
While only throwing for 91 yards, Dobbs finished with three passing touchdowns and two additional on the ground. His legs were his biggest weapon, as he ran for 106 yards between the track at Bristol.
The Volunteers have another winnable game against Ohio this week on their home turf. If Josh Dobbs can flash more from his arm, he could potentially be drafted on the second day of the NFL Draft. Like J.T. Barrett, Dobbs will have to adjust to the pro game, but he has the physical tools and athleticism needed to play at the next level.
