2. Golden Tate, WR, Detroit Lions

Golden Tate does not have the raw upside and ability of Jones, but is a consistent and reliable option in the Lions’ passing attack. Tate is as solid as they come in the short passing game, and will undoubtedly be a major part of the Lions’ game plan on Sunday.

Tate did not have top-notch fantasy production last week, with only 41 yards receiving on the afternoon. However, he is always a strong weapon in PPR leagues, and his seven receptions made that hold true in Week 1 as well.

The Lions have the makings of a strong passing attack, and Tate has a lot to do with that. His seven receptions last week came on seven targets. Literally every time that Stafford looked his way, Tate made a play.

It did not result in much obvious production, but Tate being so reliable is key here. Stafford knows that he can count on him in every situation, and that is only going to mean expanded opportunity.

Barring injury, Tate will have great numbers this season. He is relatively limited as a weapon on the outside, but Tate is a strong talent at the position.

There will be games like last week where Tate does not offer huge production, but his opportunity makes him a strong start each week. Especially in PPR leagues.

Against the weak Titans’ secondary, Tate could have an absolute field day. Make sure to get him in your fantasy football lineup wherever possible.
