Sidney Crosby got a goal from behind the net as Team Canada took an early 1-0 lead over Czech Republic in the World Cup of Hockey.

After winning the Stanley Cup, Sidney Crosby is determined to keep the Stanley Cup in Pittsburgh. He’s getting a start to what could be a dominant year for him with a strong performance in the World Cup of Hockey. Crosby got the scoring started in their opening group play game against the Czech Republic by scoring a goal from behind the net.

Crosby is an immensely talented player who makes things like that appear to be routine. That’s simply not fair. He nearly scored in the game’s first minute, but got turned away by goaltender Michal Neuvirth.

Sid The Kid is continuing to write his legacy. Even though he has missed time due to injuries in his career, his Hall of Fame resume is already pretty impressive. In 707 games, Crosby has an outstanding 938 points. He is among the career leaders in points per game and has already won two Stanley Cups as the Pittsburgh Penguins’ captain.

Canada is looking for a dominant performance at the World Cup of Hockey. On paper, they are perhaps the most talented team in the world. Their forward lines are extremely deep and should be able to offset any weaknesses that their defense might have.

Crosby is coming off a roller coaster season for the Penguins. He started off the season very slow, but heated up under new head coach Mike Sullivan. Crosby ended the season with 85 points in 80 games and a Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs.

If he can stay relatively healthy and keep up his impressive play on the ice, he could go down as the best hockey player since Wayne Gretzky. He still has a lot of good years left in him.
