4. He can’t find a decent QB

People always say that defense wins championships. While that’s true to a certain extent, you have to be able to execute offensively as well. LSU has the necessary running backs and receivers to do so, but the one thing that’s missing is the quarterback. And considering that’s the most important position on a football team, it’s a glaring hole.

Having Leonard Fournette is great, but LSU’s current quarterback carousel is a distraction. After Brandon Harris’ abysmal performance against Wisconsin, it’s clear that nobody wants him. But unless Danny Etling performs at an elite level, they’re not going to find stability at that position until they recruit a five-star QB.

What we saw from Etling against Mississippi State was serviceable, but that’s not the mentality a program who entered the season ranked at number five is supposed to have. And unless your name is Alabama, you cannot win without a good quarterback. Brandon Harris and Danny Etling will get the Tigers nowhere, and it’s time that Les Miles figured that out.

Bringing in a new coach will allow LSU to move on from those two and look elsewhere at the quarterback spot, whether it’s through recruiting or a transfer. But you can be sure that the fans will welcome any change, so long as they perform well out of the gate.
