The New England Patriots continue to have quarterback problems, as Jimmy Garoppolo let Week 2 with an apparent shoulder injury.

Everything seemed to be coming up Jimmy G in the first two weeks of the season. He was able to win his first start in replacement of Tom Brady and started out Week 2 against the Dolphins pretty well.

But the curse of the Patriots seems to be living on, as things just can’t seem to go their way even when it looks like they’re getting lucky. In the second quarter of what was a blowout game against the Dolphins, Garoppolo took a hard hit and came up lame, grabbing his shoulder.

A little after 6 p.m. ET, the Boston Herald‘s Jeff Howe reported Garoppolo will most certainly miss New England’s looming Thursday night showdown against the Houston Texans, and likely much more time than that.

More recently, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio cited a source close to the situation who claimed the Patriots quarterback had been in “tremendous pain.”

While nothing has been officially determined, it appears that this could be a situation where Garoppolo broke his collarbone. The hit that he took was legal, but the way that he landed and the way that he was reacting in such pain is not a good sign for Patriots fans.

Thats the same hit that we’ve seen break Tony Romo’s clavicle numerous times, as well as the collarbone’s of Nick Foles and others.

This came after Garoppolo had three touchdowns on the afternoon. According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, Garoppolo is questionable to return.

He was later ruled out by the Patriots:

This is not a good sign for the Patriots. It’s not a fatal blow though, as they’re just a few weeks removed from Tom Brady returning. So while this might sink a team who was relying on Garoppolo to be their starter, this is one f the only times that a starting quarterback potentially separating his shoulder is just a hiccup in a season.
