The Hokies bounced back in a big way from their first loss of the season the week before. Okay, it was against aforementioned Boston College and their current conference losing streak, but the Eagles are at least FBS (slightly) so the Hokies benefit from that.

As mentioned earlier, the defense for the Hokies looks like nothing has changed from the last three decades, holding a conference opponent with a decent offense to just 124 yards all day. Watch out for the Hokies in the Coastal Division.

The Yellow Jackets continue the ACC’s early season bragging rights over the SEC (a solid 3-2 record and counting) with a 38-7 convincing win over one member of that league’s Eastern Division. Okay, it was Vanderbilt, but you take small victories wherever you can get them.

Their next game might be the game of the year for the men from Atlanta, as undefeated and ranked Miami comes to town. If Georgia Tech can pull off the upset, they might just be able to hold on through an interesting Coastal Division.

The Seminoles should be damn lucky that there is some generosity with these rankings when it comes to the level of competition question. After giving up over 60 points for the first time ever, the Seminoles now find themselves playing scoreboard watchers for the rest of the season in an effort to get back to the ACC title game and the College Football Playoff.

If the ‘Noles want a shot, the offensive line needs to step up and act like the play for Florida State while running back Dalvin Cook needs to be the kind of player he was last season – or at least half of that at this point.
