Angela Lansbury gave a surprise performance of “Beauty and the Beast” during a screening of the film’s 25th anniversary edition.

There are few actresses whose voices are as iconic as Angela Lansbury’s. Older fans know her from her early Disney films like Bedknobs and Broomsticks, while the children of the ’80s and ’90s grew up with her as the voice of Mrs. Potts from Disney’s timeless masterpiece, Beauty and the Beast. On Sunday, a special screening of Beauty and the Beast took place ahead of the film’s 25th anniversary release, and fans in attendance were treated to something even more special as Lansbury herself took to the stage afterward to perform the titular song.

Lansbury has been out of the public eye for years, enjoying her semi-retirement, as it were, but she has been very active ahead of Beauty and the Beast’s 25th anniversary and fans have been overjoyed. Lansbury was accompanied on the song by Beauty and the Beast’s original composer, Alan Menken, who played the piano while she sang. What’s more is that Lansbury ended the song with “Run along and get in the cupboard, Chip,” which is a variation of the line she performs at the end of the song.

The timing of Beauty and the Beast’s 25th anniversary couldn’t be more perfect for Disney, as Walt Disney Pictures will release a live action version of the film in March 2017. The film is directed by Bill Condon and stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Luke Evans is taking on the role of Gaston, and earlier this year he had a sing off with Hugh Jackman, who played Gaston on Broadway. The “Gaston-off,” as it became known, was a viral hit.
