24. team. 13. The San Diego Chargers lost Keenan Allen last week to a torn ACL, and it now looks like Danny Woodhead could be headed down the same path. The running back’s right knee buckled after an awkward tackle late in the first quarter, forcing him to be carted off the field.

Fortunately last years first round pick Melvin Gordon looks to be healthy and found his stride. After a disappointing rookie season in which he failed to score a touchdown, Gordon had two touchdowns in the first half of last weeks loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Gordon scored a touchdown on the Chargers opening drive, and finished the game against the Jaguars with 102 rushing yards on 24 carries.

“It feels good,” said Gordon after the game. “I don’t get overly excited about anything. It’s early. I’m just hungry, man. But I am happy now. I definitely wanted it, so it’s even better you get the 100-yard game with a win.”

While losing a swiss army knife player like Danny Woodhead is never good, seeing Melvin Gordon develop into the player you hoped he’d be is a great sign.

Philip Rivers threw four touchdowns against a swiss cheese Jaguars defense, one of which was the 78th between Rivers and Antonio Gates in their storied career. The duo now hold the record for most touchdowns between a single quarterback and tight end.

A trip to Indianapolis is next for the Chargers as they look for their first road win of the season.
. 1-1. Previous: . San Diego Chargers
