1. Mike Zimmer defense

It’s been hinted at previously, but the Vikings are a championship-caliber football team because of its head coach Mike Zimmer and his ability to get the most out of his defensive personnel. Defense wins championships in the NFL and the Vikings should have a great one in 2016 at the very least.

This helps Bradford exponentially, as he won’t have to win shootouts to get the Vikings into the win column on fall Sundays. Most weeks it will just take three scores for the Vikings to win a low-scoring game because of this defense.

One can argue that it’s elite at all three levels. Though the Vikings are a dome team, their defense is built to win in cold weather. They’ve still got to play in Lambeau Field and Soldier Field in divisional play.

Having a terrific defense gives any underdog team in the NFL Playoffs a chance at a road upset. If the Vikings have to play in the elements in December and January, Bradford will know that he can lean on his defense to stay competitive in a tight ball game.

Bradford is still a former No. 1 overall pick and a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback. The talent has always been there, but maybe Bradford is just one of those players that needs a complete team to contend for championships. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as he does have one in the 2016 Vikings.
