Detroit Pistons Fantasy Basketball Preview
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope-Shooting Guard
Caldwell-Pope played a ton of minutes last year averaging over 36 minutes per contest. HE didn’t have one particular category that made him elite, but he was definitely a nice value play in DFS or a good multi-category contributor in season long leagues. KCP averaged a career-high 14.5 points last year and added 1.4 steals per game. While he didn’t put up huge assist numbers, his three-poitners and steals were enough to make him fantasy-relevant.
Coach Stan Van Gundy has said he hopes to cut back on his minutes a bit to help the team stay healthy. Even with a slight reduction in minutes, Caldwell-Pope showed enough growth to use a late-round pick on him if you’re in the market for steals and three-pointers.
Since Jackson and Drummond dominate the offense, his huge scoring nights are few and far between, but his regular steals, double-digit average, and heavy workload make him a name to target in the later rounds if you need good all-around guard production.
