Winner: TCU Horned Frogs (Unranked up to No. 21)

It’s been quite the up-and-down season for the TCU Horned Frogs through four weeks. After starting the season in the Top 25, and moving up to No. 15, but a home loss to Arkansas in the second week of the year dropped them out of the rankings.

However, a 33-3 victory over SMU in Week 4 moved Kenny Hill, Gary Patterson and the Horned Frogs back into the rankings at No. 21. It might not seem like a huge deal, but jumping back into the Top 25 before the heart of Big 12 play begins can be a big confidence-booster.

If the Horned Frogs can somehow win out in Big 12 play, they would likely represent the conference as the playoff team. Anything is really possible until that second or third loss of the year, and TCU hasn’t fallen off just yet.

Hill, a Texas A&M transfer, has been impressive thus far, passing for 1,487 yards and six touchdowns with four picks and he’s added 166 yards and six touchdowns rushing. If he continues to play like this and avoid turnovers, the Horned Frogs are going to be awfully tough to beat.

Big winners in the Week 5 AP Poll release.
