3. Yoenis Cespedes

The Mets traded for Yoenis Cespedes during last season’s trade deadline. This was the sole reason that the Mets made a magical run to the World Series. Since joining the Mets, Cespedes is batting .285 with 47 home runs and 125 RBIs in 179 games. Queens rejoiced in the offseason when the Mets resigned him to a three-year deal and they may rejoice again if they extend him during this one.

But before contracts are discussed, the Mets have their sights set on one thing, the playoffs. And as they have shown before, they have no problem strapping themselves onto the wagon of their Cuban superstar. Cespedes is one of the best power hitters in the game. His name in the three spot of a lineup immediately lengthens it and provides great protection for the two hole.

Now, because of his great bat, his defense gets over shadowed. While he does get caught nonchalanty going after balls in the outfield on occasion, he is a gold glove talent in left. He put his name on the map for defense by making unbelievable throws from the warning track to home plate on a fly to get runners.

Obviously Cespedes cant do this alone but he is the Mets best player and he will be a huge reason why they make the playoffs. Right now the Mets 1-2-3 hitters are Reyes, Cabrera and Cespedes. That is a solid top three and can provide runners for the middle and lower parts of the lineup quickly.
