4. Kentucky Wildcats

Yes, the University of Kentucky is more of a basketball school than anything, but this might actually be a sneaky-good job for a proven head coach on the rebound. Mark Stoops has to get Big Blue Nation to a bowl game in year three to have any shot at keeping his job.

Kentucky already has one non-conference loss against Southern Miss and another one certainly coming in the former of Lamar Jackson’s Louisville Cardinals. As weak as the SEC East may be, Kentucky doesn’t have the consistency to go 4-4 in SEC play to make it to a bowl at 6-6.

One thing that Stoops did a great job of at Kentucky is expanding the school’s recruiting base to Ohio. Stoops was able to convince kids that were rejected by Ohio State to come to Lexington and play in the SEC for the Wildcats.

Miles can recruit with the best of them in college football. Imagine what he could do at Kentucky. He would still be able to coach in the SEC, but would have an easier time of it in the East versus the West. Miles would still get to play Mississippi State and Florida annually. He’d pick up three new rivals in Georgia, Louisville, and Tennessee.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see Miles have the Wildcats playing for a trip to Atlanta if he ends up replacing Stoops in Lexington. Getting Miles to coach the football team would be on par with the basketball team hiring John Calipari away from the Memphis Tigers in 2008.
