2-1. Previous: 2nd. Pittsburgh Steelers. 9. team. 55. Basically whatever could go wrong for the Pittsburgh Steelers did against Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. The North Dakota State product threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns as the Eagles were able to blowout the Steelers in Philadelphia.
Ben Roethlisberger failed to find the endzone multiple times, and his teammates didn’t help him either. Philadelphia defensive tackle Bennie Logan blocked a field goal on the Steelers opening drive, setting a strong tone for a much improved Eagles defense.
Big Ben finished just 24/44 with an interception made by safety Rodney McLeod, who simply took the ball away from wide receiver Darius Heyward-Bay.

Pittsburgh was unable to get any help from their running backs either. DeAngelo Williams has been one of the best running backs in the NFL in-place of the suspended Le’Veon Bell. Williams finished with only 21 yards after being consistently stuffed in the backfield by the Eagles defensive line.

Antonio Brown had a productive day on paper with 12 catches and 140 yards in the air, but he could not finish the job. Tight end Jesse James out of Penn State had taken over as the main receiving tight end after Heath Miller retired and Ladarius Green has sat with a bad ankle. James got only two receptions for 10 yards Sunday.

Defensively the Steelers could not crack the code that is Carson Wentz. Wentz, who has gone all three games of his rookie career without a turnover, kept the ball out of the hands of Steelers defenders. The Eagles quarterback also made the defense look silly by stepping up in the pocket and completing multiple passes for large chunks of yards.

Multiple players were also lost to injury on defense, including Ryan Shazier, Robert Golden, Lawrence Timmons, and Mike Mitchell.

Pittsburgh will have a chip on their shoulder when Le’Veon Bell returns from his suspension next week on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs at home.
