Previous: 31st. San Francisco 49ers. 29. team. 42. Chip Kelly’s up-tempo offense failed to score a touchdown for the first three quarters, leaving the defense vulnerable for 36 minutes against Seattle. San Francisco’s defense looked sluggish throughout the game, failing to cover or finish tackles. Seahawks running back Christine Michael ran straight through the defense like a hot knife in butter, scoring two touchdowns and recording 106 yards on 20 carries.

San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde found the end zone twice in the final five minutes, but the rest of the offense failed to accumulate any yardage.

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert finished 14-of-25 with only 119 yards and an interception. He’s now 22nd in the league in passing yards with just 532.

Torrey Smith and Garrett Celek each had three catches, which led the team against the Seahawks.

Chip Kelly said after the game the players need to play better and the coaches need to coach better. As someone who endured multiple seasons with Chip Kelly in Philadelphia, I know just how flawed his approach is. Practicing at full speed the day before a game burns out veterans and leaves them jelly-legged on Sundays. He has only a handful of plays on offense with slight variances to each one.

San Francisco hosts Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys next week, who have allowed nearly 400 yards of offense per game this season. The countdown to the NFL Draft is already on in the Bay Area.
. 1-2
