17. Dallas Cowboys

123. Thanks to an outstanding offensive line and plenty of weapons, the Dallas Cowboys have managed to survive the early part of their schedule despite some serious issues on defense. Dak Prescott is the talk of the NFL. Whether they can maintain this pace is still up for debate but as it stands they’re in the hunt. Looking ahead to the draft one would think their primary focus is obvious but it’s not always about needs in these situations.
Dallas has maintained a steady belief in taking the best players available. It’s a practice that has served them well the past few years. Safety doesn’t look like a primary concern at present with Byron Jones, Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox. Then again none of those three can be considered a star. Maybe no pass rush has something to do with that but this game is about creating big plays in order to win. That means there is always room for an upgrade if the opportunity arises.

It is a minor shock that Jamal Adams is still on the board. He is in the running for best safety in the draft. A defensive back with size, toughness and the ability to sniff out plays before they happen. When he gets a bead on the ball, he flies to it. Ball carriers often don’t enjoy meeting him in the open field. To top it off he’s able in coverage as well. There is no limit to what Rod Marinelli could do with him.
. S. LSU.
