3. His teams can beat Oklahoma

There is nothing bigger to Texas football than the Red River Rivalry. The Longhorns took the meeting against Oklahoma last year, but head into their meeting next week scuffling. Fortunately, the Sooners haven’t been much better than Texas and both teams will have a shot.

In his time at Houston, Tom Herman has already knocked off Oklahoma. He did it to begin this season and it was an impressive showing that reminded everyone the Cougars were for real. They were ready to go when the game began and they executed the game plan to perfection.

If Herman was to bring those same coaching habits to Texas, his team would be ready for every rivalry game. They would be sharp and Oklahoma would have to be at their best to knock off their hated rivals.

That win over Oklahoma to begin the season and his subsequent success with Houston will sit well with boosters and everyone in the program. They would be jumping for joy to get their chance at a guy like Herman.
