1. Deshaun Watson is new front-runner for Heisman

If anyone wanted to know where Deshaun Watson has been to start the season, a champion emerged on Saturday night. When his program needed him the most in the fight of their lives, he delivered a championship performance. His collected demeanor against a phenomenal team reminded everyone just why he is the best quarterback in college football.

It also put him back in front for the Heisman chase. The winner of this game would get a huge boost toward a playoff run, but there were award implications as well. Lamar Jackson came into this game as the talk of the NCAA, but it was Watson that stole all the headlines at the very end.

Should Watson continue to play with such poise, voters are going to be reminded of why he’s the guy. A Heisman is about a lot more than just stats. It’s about leadership, performance in tough times and the ability to represent a program with class.

Watson is doing all of those things and he has a bright future ahead of him. Weeks like this one in college football are special because of the fact that everything lived up to the hype. We can only be so lucky if next week is just as great as this one.
