The San Francisco 49ers are a bad team, and they might have just gotten a lot worse with a potential leg injury to NaVorro Bowman.

San Francisco is hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon at Levi’s Stadium, and the air went out of the building in the third quarter after a promising start. Inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman dropped into coverage before coming up toward the line.

The All-Pro went down without being touched in obvious pain before trainers and medical staff rushed out. Bowman stayed down until a cart came onto the field, where he was loaded on and taken into the locker room.

Bowman was brutally injured in the 2013 NFC Championship Game, and tearing multiple ligaments in his knee. He was out the entire 2014 season before coming back and being as good as ever in 2015. Now, only four games into the 2016 campaign, it could be over. While nobody looks to speculate in these situations, an Achilles injury is certainly in play here.

Last year, Bowman racked up 154 tackles with 2.5 sacks, despite having little talent around him. Should Bowman be out for any extended period, the 49ers lose their best player on either side of the ball. San Francisco desperately needs this to be worse on film than it actually is.
