2. Chicago Bears

Myles Garrett . 2. player. 57. They may have won their first game of the year, but not a lot has changed for the Chicago Bears. They defeated the Detroit Lions 17-14. It’s not like one would call that a breakout performance. They got a solid, all-around effort from everybody and made enough plays to win. Bad teams can do that two or three times in a season. It’s clear from recent events that Detroit was going to be one of those teams they could beat. Given the state of their roster, it’s hard to see the success continuing.
For one the state of the pass rush is in crisis mode. Even though they sacked Matthew Stafford twice, it came from two interior guys. Their edge rush was almost non-existent. Rookie Leonard Floyd continues to struggle while the loss of Pernell McPhee looms ever larger each week. John Fox knows that his defense won’t ever be able to truly get off the ground until they find that definitive pass rusher who alters game plans. Just like he had with Julius Peppers in Carolina and Von Miller in Denver.

The cries for a quarterback will be deafening, but the question must be asked. When it comes to the NFL, are Deshaun Watson or Brad Kaaya better than Myles Garrett? The answer is no. Garrett might be the best player in the 2017 class overall. A versatile edge rusher who has a mix of power, speed and quickness that inhabits very few defenders every 10 years or so. Floyd may be the utility man who can do different things, but this is the guy who will put the quarterback on the turf 10-15 times a year.
. OLB. Texas A&M
