28. Pittsburgh Steelers

TE. Michigan. Jake Butt . 28. player. 55. One would think after the dismantling the Pittsburgh Steelers offense had of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night in week four that they wouldn’t need anymore help on offense. A fair point, but also a misguided one. Everybody hasn’t forgotten what the Eagles did to them the week prior, so the Steelers can’t afford to rest on who they have. There are ways to get better. One area they should really think about bolstering, particularly with this draft class, is the tight end position. They’re still missing Heath Miller at that spot and there is no doubt they’d love somebody like Jake Butt from Michigan.
Mostly because Butt is like Miller in many ways. He’s a tight end with size who runs good routes to get open. His greatest asset though is the versatility. In addition to being a quality pass target who can threaten the middle of the field, Butt is also a dependable blocker. Not a surprise considering he plays for Jim Harbaugh, who is quite adept at developing complete tight ends. Pittsburgh will have another weapon added to their arsenal, one they’ve been trying to find for over a year. Jake Butt fits the need and the city he’s being drafted to.
