3. Clay Helton

Clay Helton got a job-saving win against the Arizona State Sun Devils last week. Had the Trojans dropped another game, their head coach would have been walking the plank. This week, Helton has to keep the wins going.

He doesn’t have the same job security as his counterpart in Los Angeles and has to get the Trojans on the winning side. This week, the Trojans are once again playing a game that could keep their new head coach teetering on the edge. The No. 21 Colorado Buffaloes come to town and they are rolling.

If USC drops a game at home to Colorado this week, which is a real possibility, then it would be their third conference loss. With four losses overall and three in the conference, they could pretty much say goodbye to any hopes of winning the Pac-12 South.

If their chances of being competitive in any nature are over this early in the season, then Lynn Swann will have to make the tough choice. Helton needs another big win at home just like the one he got last week.
