Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford: Stock Down

Last years runner-up for the Heisman Trophy is having a rollercoaster season thus far. McCaffrey is 25th in the country in rushing yards and has just three touchdowns on the ground. Last week against Washington he was limited to 49 rushing yards and a season-low 4.1 yards per carry.

After scoring 14 total touchdowns last season between his work in the rushing, receiving, and special teams, McCaffrey has just four so far this season. Last year he had four touchdowns in one game against UCLA in a 21-point blowout.

Last week McCaffrey played the closest thing to an NFL defense he will probably face all year with Washington. People are trying to determine if the Stanford back can be productive in the NFL with his frame and lack of pile-pushing power. Can he translate his game from the Rose Bowl to Lambeau Field.

If McCaffrey declares for the NFL Draft this year, I believe he will be picked towards the later half of the first round. I have a strong feeling the Patriots will fall in-love with him thanks to his versatility and personality. Whether or not he makes it to them is yet to be seen. Oakland and Philadelphia would also be intriguing spots for the Stanford running back to potentially land based on their questions at certain skilled positions.
