Oklahoma: Jason White – Oklahoma Sooners

This choice may surprise some people. After all, current Minnesota Vikings starter and former Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford was born in the state. However, his overall college career pales in comparison to that of Jason White.

White was born and raised in Tuttle, Oklahoma and played quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners from 1999 to 2004. His best seasons came in 2003 and 2004 when he had the school contending for national championships. In 2003, his outstanding play earned him several awards, including the Davey O’Brien Award and the Player of the Year title from the AP and Sporting News.

He was also a unanimous All-American that year and went on to win the Heisman Trophy. The following season, he won the Davey O’Brien Award again and finished third in the Heisman voting. He led the Sooners to consecutive BCS National Championship games during that span, losing both.

Despite his collegiate success, White went undrafted. He was eventually signed by the Tennessee Titans but decided to quit football due to weak knees. Even though he never succeeded at the next level, Jason White is the best college quarterback born in the Sooner State.
