4. Colorado State Rams

If the Big 12 is expanding from 10 to 14 teams, they would be foolish to not bring aboard the Colorado State Rams. The Big 12 would be getting the Denver media market they lost when the Colorado Buffaloes moved to the Pac-12.

Fort Collins is one of the coolest college towns that nobody really knows about. The Rams also have a strong up-and-coming head coach in Mike Bobo. Bobo was the longtime offensive coordinator for Mark Richt at the University of Georgia. He needs to improve his Rocky Mountain recruiting base, but has shown an ability to groom pro-style passers.

By adding Colorado State, the Rocky Mountain Showdown with Colorado instantly improves as a non-conference rivalry. Potential rivals that Colorado State could have in the Big 12 include Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and maybe a few others that also come aboard in expansion.

Of any team that has a realistic shot at a Big 12 bid, Colorado State doesn’t have the proven track record of other mid-major schools. However, why would the Big 12 not want to get back into the Denver media market? Colorado State is an obvious entry point.
