4. Bryan Harsin

Bryan Harsin’s name probably won’t stick out when it comes to potential Texas head coaching candidates. He’s probably not the big name fans would want if Charlie Strong is fired, but the 39-year-old has found plenty of success in his first three seasons coaching.

Harsin has led Boise State to a 28-6 record, including going 7-0 in the 2016 season. He got the Broncos back into the polls with this impressive year, and could even crack the top-ten soon. Harsin has created a solid defense, which has allowed over 25 points just twice this season (27, 28) and the offense even has over 2,000 yards passing. The track record is there for him to get a job with a big-name college, but could there be an issue?

What may hold Harsin back from the job is his alma mater is Boise State. He played there from 1995-99 as a quarterback and took an assistant role with the school from 2001-10. So, any chance he has had to go back to Boise, ID got accepted. It would make a future at Texas somewhat slim, but if the school offers him more money than he’s ever seen, would he bolt for the Big 12?
