No. 4: Trevor Knight is the QB the Aggies need

Going into this season, I never would have expected Texas A&M to be having success against such quality opponents. Without a doubt, Texas A&M has been able to defeat teams this season that they wouldn’t have been able to defeat last year because of the play of their senior quarterback.

Heading into his team’s Week 8 match against Alabama, Trevor Knight has thrown for 1,500 yards, nine touchdowns, five interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 502 yards and another nine scores.

Whereas last season, the Aggies had inconsistent quarterback play, this season their quarterback is a large part of why they are winning.

The best part of what Knight does for Texas A&M is that he realizes that he doesn’t have to win games all by himself. Whenever Knight plays within the offense and allows his talented playmaker such as Christian Kirk, Speedy Noil, and Trayveon Williams to get the job done, this team looks elite.

Lastly, Knight has a unique ability to make plays when the team’s momentum is starting to trend downward. For instance, at one point during the Arkansas game, Texas A&M started to stall out on the offense end. After two back-to-back drives of Knight allowing his teammates to try and make plays, Knight successfully ran a read option, kept the ball and scored on a 62-yard touchdown run.

Not all quarterbacks can sense when their team has lost its will. Knight can not only sense it, he can will his team back into the lead.
