1. Alabama Crimson Tide

W-L Record: 8-0

Remaining Schedule: at LSU, Mississippi State, Chattanooga, Auburn

They will fall victim to…

LSU on Nov. 5

This is the most controversial prediction. Alabama’s pretty much untouchable, unstoppable and all-things-right with a football program. So, before I begin, I wanted to relay a message to Nick Saban and the fans in Tuscaloosa: I’m sorry.

No one’s shut off the power supply to Alabama. The closest call in compromising their chase for perfection came in Week 3 when they faced Ole Miss. But ‘Bama was saved by its defense, which scored twice. By the way, let’s talk for a moment about that defense. In their most recent game against A&M in Week 8, Alabama scored its 12th defense/special teams touchdown. That’s only four touchdowns away from FBS leading rusher, Lamar Jackson.

All this elite football playing happening, what in the world makes Coach O’s LSU Tigers a favorite to win? First, the match-up will be played at Death Valley. That’ll carry some weight in support of LSU. Secondly, Leonard Fournette’s back. After sitting out for a few weeks due to injury, Fournette picked up where he left off. And he let Ole Miss see the light in that, as he tallied 284 yards and three touchdowns.

It’s hard to take a team that lost to Auburn seriously. When LSU lost, though, the margin wasn’t wide. When LSU won, the gates to Heaven opened up and LSU took care of business. So, on Nov. 5, Coach O and Nick Saban will be fully rested, since Week 9 is an off week for both.

Probability isn’t on LSU’s side, but Alabama really has no talent left to play. Chattanooga is a weird non-conference game. Auburn’s rising from the ashes like a Phoenix, but that end-of-season game’s in Tuscaloosa. No snowball’s chance in hell will Auburn pull that one off. Besides, if Alabama’s to lose, it’ll be vs. the third-best team in the SEC West, the LSU Tigers.

Hurts, don’t it?
