3. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles reportedly have interest in San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith, even if the 49ers have dismissed the idea they’re looking to trade anyone. Philadelphia seems to be in the market for a wide receiver, understandably so for the most part, but they could aim higher than Smith.

The Eagles’ wide receiver group lacks a great option to command defensive attention, with Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor and Dorial Green-Beckham all disappointing on some level so far this season. Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz would surely benefit from Jeffery’s presence, and the entire offense stands to function better with more room to operate.

Jeffery’s contract status is less prohibitive than Smith’s as a pending free agent, with the latter having three years left on his deal that carries a $6.5 million salary and a $9.6 salary cap hit. Add in the fact Jeffery is a far superior talent, and the Eagles can easily shift their focus to acquiring the Bears receiver if the 49ers are being too stubborn and short-sighted regarding Smith. The only real roadblock may be the asking price on Chicago’s end, and it might be significant.
