3. Dawg Stomp

Georgia had only beaten Florida three of their previous 18 meetings heading into the 2007 NCAA season. The Bulldogs already had two SEC East losses on the year against the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Tennessee Volunteers.

It wasn’t looking promising for Mark Richt and his Georgia team heading into Jacksonville. They had to go up against No. 9 Florida, head coach Urban Meyer, and eventual Heisman Trophy winner quarterback Tim Tebow.

Richt wanted to get his Georgia team fired up for this one, so he told his team to get an excessive celebration penalty after scoring its first touchdown in the 2007 game. After running back Knowshon Moreno got in on a first quarter scamper, the entire 2007 Bulldogs team rushed to the end zone to join the offense in celebration.

Georgia would be penalized 15 yards on the ensuing kickoff, but still beat Florida, 42-30 in that game. The Bulldogs wouldn’t lose the rest of the season, finishing No. 2 in the AP Poll, and No. 3 in the Coaches Poll. Florida would destroy Georgia in 2008, but the Dawgs had their day in the sun in 2007.
