After a bye week, the Oregon Ducks lost their first game back against the Cal Golden Bears. While it was a thriller that came down to the end, it was another bitter defeat for the team. Even worse, it puts the Ducks in real danger of missing a bowl game this season.

At 2-5, the Ducks can’t afford more than one loss on the season. This week, they play host to an ASU team that has been up and down, but not very good on the road. If they lose to ASU this week, then they can kiss their playoff chances goodbye.

Helfrich is already on thin ice and each passing loss continues to seal his fate. His team just isn’t good and the program has massively regressed underneath his watch. The Ducks are fighting for his job on Saturday.

If they drop their sixth straight game, the hot seat will be an inferno. Do the Ducks have what it takes to bounce back and win out against some very tough opponents that are on their upcoming schedule? It isn’t likely and Helfrich will soon be gone.
