4. Jonathan Allen – DL – Alabama Crimson Tide

When people think of the scariest players in football, defensive players usually come to mind first. This is due to the fact that they’re the ones delivering bone-crunching hits and inflicting lots of pain. Defensive linemen are usually the biggest and most fearsome players on the score-stopping side of the ball. When it comes to that position, Alabama’s Jonathan Allen is one of the scariest in the country.

If you have any doubts about how scary Allen can be, then simply talk to Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight. The 6-foot-3 and 291-pound wrecking ball flew through the air like Superman to sack the signal caller. It’s easily one of the most impressive plays that you’ll see a DL make all year on any level. Jonathan also terrorized the Aggies’ offensive line as he was tossing them around like rag dolls. He clearly uses his size and strength to his advantage while displaying great athleticism for his stature.

Even though Allen is a very large man with a lot of speed and power, it’s his technique that makes him even scarier. Several NFL scouts have used the word “technician” when describing him. This means that he’s virtually unstoppable when facing an opposing offensive lineman.

It should go without saying that Jonathan Allen is a true nightmare on the college level. I have a strong feeling that this will remain the case when he takes his talents to the NFL.
