High Value SG

Rodney Hood-Utah Jazz (5,300): The Jazz are still dealing with the loss of Gordon Hayward to start the year, and as they figure out their new-look offense, Rodney Hood is being asked to step into a larger role. Hood opened the year with a huge 26-point game in Portland, but his shot deserted him against the Clippers on Sunday when he went just 2-10. He’ll need to bounce back tonight against the Spurs if the Jazz hope to keep things close in San Antonio. It’s worth noting that the Jazz are on the front have of a brutal back-to-back they’ll finish tomorrow in Dallas, so if the game gets lopsided they may elect to rest Hood and the rest of the starters. Hood has nice upside, but he is a little risky for this Tuesday.∗∗

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope-Detroit Pistons (4,500): The Pistons have bounced back with a pair of wins after losing their season-opener in Toronto. Tonight, they’ll look to make it three in a row as they host the Knicks. In their win over Milwuakee on Sunday, KCP came alive with 21 points to go with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals on his way to 35.2 fantasy points. He had just 22.2 fantasy points in his first two games combined, so it was a marked improvement for Caldwell-Pope who needs to continue to step up and produce while Detroit is without Reggie Jackson.∗∗

Allen Crabbe-Portland Trail Blazers (4,300): Crabbe is a really good fit for tonight’s matchup if the Blazers go small with the Warriors and turn tonight’s game in Portland into a total track meet.  Crabbe has started the season strong and is earning time off the bench alongside Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum as a small-ball SF. In each of his first three games of the season, Crabbe has played at least 29 minutes and scored in double digits. He has also turned in decent rebounds and assists and can definitely reach to 20-fantasy-point plateau where he’s worth this salary in tonight’s late game.∗∗∗

Nick Young-Los Angeles Lakers (3,600): Luke Walton has revived the career of Swaggy P who barely had a roster spot under the previous Lakers’ regime. Nick Young is starting now for the Lakers and has posted solid numbers. He’s still never afraid to throw up a shot and has a horrible shooting percentage as a result, but he has 15, 15.1, and 23.1 fantasy points in his three games this season while playing at least 24 minutes in each contest. Tonight as they Lakers face the up-tempo Pacers, Young is my favorite bargain flier at SG. He’s relatively low risk since he will definitely get you something while he also has a high ceiling if his shots all start going in. ∗∗
