Louisville Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino threw some massive shade at the Florida State Seminoles after beating the Boston College Eagles on Saturday.

The No. 7 Louisville Cardinals smoked the Boston College Eagles on Saturday afternoon, 52-7 at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill. Louisville is arguably the best one-loss team in the Power 5 but is one the outside looking in at the 2017 College Football Playoff.

When asked by the media what he thought about being No. 7 in the first Selection Committee rankings, Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino decided to throw massive shade at his ACC Atlantic rival Florida State Seminoles.

Petrino said, “Maybe I made a mistake. Maybe I should’ve left our starters out there against Florida State and scored 80.” That sounds very petty, but maybe Petrino has a point?

Louisville would need Clemson to lose twice to get into the ACC Championship Game in Orlando this December. The Cardinals lost head-to-head to ACC Atlantic rival Clemson earlier this season but throttled Florida State at home.

The best way that Louisville can force its way into the 2017 College Football Playoff is to beat its remaining opponents senseless. It helps when you have the runaway favorite for the 2016 Heisman Trophy in sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Throwing shade at Florida State doesn’t help Louisville’s Playoff case, but it does add credibility to the two school’s budding rivalry. Louisville only joined the ACC a few years ago. They’ve already made enemies with the two biggest teams in the ACC: Clemson and Florida State.

Louisville may not get into the College Football Playoff but are a lock to make it to the Orange Bowl this season. The Cardinals may not lose again this season.
