35. Given the Tennessee defense and its improved play this year, you would think 35 points would be enough to ensure a victory no matter who the opposition may be. But when you allow a team to gain 476 total yards, score 43 points and own the clock for 36:29, it’s not going to end well. Running back DeMarco Murray was held to 80 yards from scrimmage and did score a touchdown. Quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 313 yards and three scores and added a rushing touchdown. But he also gave up the football three times and two of those miscues were returned for crippling scores by the San Diego defense.
Next Week: It was a very uncharacteristic poor defensive effort at San Diego for the Titans. Things don’t get any easier next Sunday as Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers travel to Nashville. Tennessee is 1-1 vs. NFC North teams this season, losing at home to the Vikings on opening weekend and beating the Lions in Detroit, 16-15, seven days later.

Playoff hopes: With a chance to get over the .500 mark, the Titans failed at San Diego. A run at the defending division champion Houston Texans (5-3) for the top spot in the AFC South is certainly still possible. But this team needs to play with a little more consistency if they are going to string together a bunch of wins and have a realistic shot at the postseason.
. 4-5. Previous: .
