Overrated team – Texas A&M

Texas A&M had plenty of success last season with their 28-9 record and spot in the Sweet 16. They had Jalen Jones and Danuel House leading the show with over 30 combined points and 12 rebounds per game.

Going into the 2016-17 season, A&M is still considered one of the best teams in the SEC. However, their key contributors are going to look a bit different this year with Jones, House, and Alex Caruso having graduated. This was three of their top four scorers.

Outside of Tyler Davis, who averaged 11.5 points per game, the Aggies are pretty much a big unknown. They will be without freshman point guard J.J. Caldwell, and be forced to turn to plenty of their role players from 2015. Four-star power forward Robert Williams may be someone to watch, but what his impact will be is uncertain. So, it’s hard to know what they have in him or any of the others yet. It makes the book of Texas A&M not being able to be written until midseason. That’s when we’ll know if this team can hang around near the top of the SEC.

While the SEC is a weak conference, Texas A&M shouldn’t be considered near the top of it and may be a letdown after a successful season.
