After getting weird and surviving in Austin, the West Virginia Mountaineers now host Oklahoma in a de-facto Big 12 title game. If the Mountaineers win, they would have Baylor and Iowa State left to play in the Big 12. If West Virginia loses, they face the strong possibility not only losing the Big 12 title but not reaching the New Year’s Six all from a loss to Oklahoma. Next week is possibly the biggest game for the Mountaineers since they’ve entered the Big 12.

Perhaps the hottest team in America not named Alabama, the Oklahoma Sooners continued their high-flying ways by beating Baylor this past weekend. With losses by some of the other top teams, Oklahoma’s chances to reach the playoff aren’t dead just yet. One thing that could help is Houston beating Louisville this week and the Sooners beating West Virginia. Maybe we were wrong about the Big 12 because OU and WVU have given the conference some hope after all.
