team. 56. There will be plenty of eyes on the wide receiver matchup between Cincinnati’s A.J. Green and the Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. But what really bears watching is the play of both defenses, most notably the Bengals. A unit that ranked 11th in the NFL in fewest yards allowed is now among the worst-such units in the league. Last season, only the Seattle Seahawks (277) gave up more points than the team from the Queen City (279). In 2016, Marvin Lewis’ disappointing squad has already allowed 189 points in eight games, as well as 23 offensive touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati offense is starting to get healthier and you can see the improvement in recent performances.
Next Week: Following their Monday night visit to New Jersey and a date with the New York Giants, the Bengals have a short week to prepare for a visit from the explosive Buffalo Bills. Rex Ryan’s club is coming off its mini-vacation and features a ground attack that could give Cincinnati’s defense fits.

Playoff hopes: The Bengals have been a postseason participant each year since 2011 but that streak could definitely be in jeopardy this season. Then again, Cincinnati still has two cracks at the first-place Baltimore Ravens this year and games remaining with the Steelers and Browns. There’s no reason for panic at all.
. 3-4-1. Previous: .
