NFL Mock Draft: Deshaun Watson falling
By Brad Weiss
The San Francisco 49ers are having another terrible season, and Colin Kaepernick’s time as the team’s starting quarterback needs to come to an end. The jury is still out as to whether or not head coach Chip Kelly is going to be a good NFL coach, and he is going to want to get his own guy under center to start the 2017 season. The combination of Blaine Gabbert and Kaepernick has been horrible, so look for San Fran to go quarterback with pick number two.
Notre Dame signal-caller DeShone Kizer will likely be the first quarterback off the board, as the scouts really like his raw ability in the position. As far as his physical talent goes, there is no-one in this draft who is better, but his decision making has come under question this season. The Fighting Irish are having one of the worst seasons in recent history, and Kizer has played a big part in that.
There are a couple of quarterbacks who could go in this slot, but it appears Kizer is the top-rated at the position across the board. I like the fact that he can make all of the throws, but he is going to be expected to run an up-tempo offense in San Francisco. One thing is for sure, Kizer better work out or it could be a short tenure for Kelly in San Fran.
