NFL Mock Draft: Deshaun Watson falling
By Brad Weiss
Defense is king in New York, even if it is Eli Manning who gets all the billboards around the city. During the team’s two Super Bowl wins, it has been the defense that has led them. The 2016 New York Giants have played much better as a unit than the 2015 variety, but they still need to inject some young talent into their linebacking corps.
Zach Cunningham of Vanderbilt is an absolute freak, and has the kind of athleticism that is rarely seen at his position. Giants fans are dying for another star linebacker to take the mantle from guys like Lawrence Taylor and Carl Banks. It has been a long time since a dominating linebacker has worn the blue and red of the Giants, and Cunningham has the tools to be just that.
Eli Manning is still one of the better quarterbacks in the NFC, and is a two-time Super Bowl MVP. However, like with his older brother Peyton, he is starting to get up there in age, and may not have a ton of good seasons left. The Giants have made incredible strides on the defensive side of the ball this season, and it may only take one more piece of the puzzle to put them over the top.
