4. Brock Lesnar defeats Goldberg

I have to admit that when I first learned after a dozen years Goldberg would be getting back in the ring to face the same man he faced in his last match at WrestleMania XX, Brock Lesnar, I was less than thrilled. While obviously still in great shape, it’s hard for anyone to come back after that long and put on a great match. Think about it. That’s three times longer than Shawn Michaels was gone before his return in 2002. And while HBK looked great that night at SummerSlam against Triple H, Bill Goldberg ain’t Shawn Michaels. Plus, it’s not as if Brock Lesnar makes people look as good as Triple H could.

With that being said, the buildup to this match at Survivor Series has been much better than I thought it would be. The family angle is always a good one to play when the guys allow it and Paul Heyman is certainly the guy to get under someone’s skin when the storyline calls for it. The segment between Lesnar and Goldberg on Monday night was pretty solid, so can somebody tell me when exactly Goldberg learned to use a microphone? Because his work on the stick has been stellar throughout this entire angle.

Even with that being said, there’s only one way this match can go. Brock Lesnar needs to beat Bill Goldberg.

Now, most guys don’t come back for the one-off to lose but with the way that Lesnar has been booked over the past few years, a 49-year-old guy who hasn’t been in the ring for 12 years simply can’t be the guy to take him down. Lesnar has been built as unbeatable, and while I don’t know who exactly will be the person to end the dominance, Goldberg is not the best candidate. That would be a slap in the face to every other person in the locker room. It would be yet another horrible example of someone getting the rub that doesn’t need it … you know, kind of like Brock Lesnar beating The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Look, I hope the match is physical and is better than the last few Lesnar matches which were essentially just squashes. I mean, this Survivor Series match can’t get any worse than the WrestleMania XX match, right?
