All season long, I have been taking shots at the men from the commonwealth for underachieving with maybe the worst graduate transfer of the season under center. So, when they win a game, I have to give credit where it is due…for a couple sentences.

For the Eagles, the hope is that this win over another New England team is going to be enough to give them confidence to go out this week, beat Wake Forest, and somehow become eligible for a bowl game after losing four of their last six games.

For the Tar Heels, it was a welcome break from conference play as they went out and did their job – embracing future members of our military as a tune up for this week’s game against N.C. State that has championship game implications.

For North Carolina, it’s going to be a weekend of anticipation. After likely beating the Wolfpack on Friday, they will have to wait a full day and become the biggest fans of Virginia, needing them to upset Virginia Tech if UNC wants to head to Orlando and play Clemson for the ACC crown.

Yes, the Yellow Jackets went out and did their job to get a win in their conference finale…and yes, now they have the confidence and ability to go out this week and get the rivalry win over their rivals from the Peach State, the Georgia Bulldogs.

But lets not forget that the win was against the Virginia Cavaliers – maybe the worst team the ACC has had since some of those really bad Duke and Wake Forest teams from the late 1990s and early 2000s. It’s nothing personal, Paul Johnson…strictly business.
